Soler: "We have to look to improve things in the two-week international break"
Carlos Soler came on in the 81st minute of the game against Real Betis, returning to action after several weeks of individual recovery work and training with the group.
He would replace Geoffrey Kondogbia to play in the centre of the midfield alongside Daniel Wass, and whilst he was happy with his comeback there was disappointment with the result of the game.
"We wanted to take two consecutive victories, which in this league is very difficult. We didn't play completely well in our last home game, and neither did we today. They were better than us in every facet and we have to look to improve things in the two-week international break, both in terms of attack and defence," he told VCF Media.
"We have to create more chances and allow the opposition fewer chances. Let's see if we manage to improve this, because we weren't the best team in the world last Tuesday, nor were we the worst today. We're the same team, it's just that today nothing worked out for us. We'll try to improve."
As for his own feelings about his return, Soler said that: "I couldn't do the same workload as my teammates during preseason. It was a difficult, strange preseason for me. Now I have two weeks in which to get as much into the rhythm of competition as possible, to face the next game as well as I can.
"I wanted to get minutes before the international break. My injury recovery allowed me to play a few minutes in this game and I hope to be at 100% for the next game. I was 100% fit today, but it's down to what the coach decides. I hope that the next game goes better than today."
